This song is by Grupo Revelação, but is also performed by many other musical groups that play samba and pagode. I’ve been listening to it on repeat since I got back home from Brazil because it brings back so many good memories for me. I heard it played at various samba shows that I went to, most notably when I went to Santa Aldeia with a friend to watch Fundo de Quintal (who can be considered the fathers of the pagode genre!). The title is essentially translated to “The Show Must Go On”, which is kind of a message I keep telling myself right now, since I just started working full-time for my family’s company. It’s been somewhat of a tough transition, especially since I hadn’t planned on this at all and I was just in the most magical city on Earth less than a week ago. I’m having what you could call withdrawals from that lifestyle I guess, or simply the freedom. But I am reminding myself that this is a good way for me to gain relevant experience in the media industry and grow our business at the same time. So here’s to this next year, during which I expect to work my butt off and carry on the show. Lalaiá! Lalaiá! Laiiiii!
